The bell at the top of every page is where Management Toolbox tells you what needs your attention: security reminders, billing news, announcements and tips. The number on the bell is how many you have not read yet.
Open your notifications
- Select the bell in the header. The panel shows your latest ten, newest first, grouped as Today, Past 7 days and Earlier. Unread ones have a dot on the left.
- Select a notification to read it. If it has a button (for example Open passkeys), select the button to go straight to the right page. Using the button also marks it read.
- To see everything, select See all at the bottom of the list (it appears when you have more than ten), the Open all notifications icon at the top of the panel, or Notifications in the account menu (select your initials at the top right). The full page also holds the ones you snoozed or dismissed.
- Select X, press Esc or select anywhere else on the page to close the panel.
Find the one you want
Under the title there is a row of filters. All shows everything. The dot shows only the ones you have not read. Each round icon is one kind of notification: Security, Billing, My stores, Company news, Tips and what's new, and for Clear Billing Solutions users CBS, which shows the CBS mark in a green circle. Hover over an icon to see its name. You can select more than one.
What you can do with each one
- Mark it read. Open it, use its button, or select its dot. Select the dot again to mark it unread. Mark all read clears the lot.
- Remind me later (the bell with a z). It leaves your list and comes back on its own after the time you chose in your settings. Security notifications do not have this button, because you need to see them.
- Dismiss (the X). It leaves your list. Nothing is deleted: open the full page, then Dismissed, and select Restore to bring it back. Under Snoozed, select Remind me now to bring a snoozed one back at once.
What Urgent means
Most notifications just wait in the bell. An Urgent one is different: a small card pops up under the bell the next time you open or refresh a page, so you cannot miss it.
- It stays until you close it (the X, or Esc) or use its button. It does not go away on its own.
- Closing the card does not delete the notification. It stays in the bell, unread, until you read it.
- You see the pop-up once for each notification. If several are urgent, they appear one at a time, and at most three on one page load. The rest wait for your next page load.
Choose what you see
Choose Preferences in the account menu and then Notifications, or select the gear in the footer of the bell panel. Each kind has a switch: Billing, My stores (or My store), Company news, Tips and what's new and, for CBS users, CBS. A switch you turn off hides that kind everywhere, including pop-ups. Nothing is deleted, so you can turn it back on. Changes save as soon as you make them, and each switch says Saved.
- Security notifications have no off switch. They cover sign-in and account changes, and you need to see them.
- Remind me later lets you choose how long a snoozed notification waits: 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days.
- Reset to defaults puts every switch and the snooze length back. It asks you to confirm first. Your read and dismissed notifications do not change.
Light and dark
Notifications follow your Appearance setting: System (follows your device), Light or Dark. Select your initials and pick one in the account menu, or open Preferences and use Appearance. It applies at once and is saved to your account. See Your Preferences (Profile and Settings).
If something goes wrong
- You cannot see the bell. Refresh the page. If it is still missing, choose Contact support in your account menu.
- The panel says "We couldn't load your notifications just now". Close it and open it again in a moment. If it keeps happening, contact support.
- A notification is missing. Check the filters, then Dismissed and Snoozed on the full page. A kind you switched off in your settings is hidden everywhere.
Good to know: you only see notifications meant for you, so your list may look different from a colleague's. Times in a notification are Pacific. A notification that starts with "Test:" is a preview its author sent only to themselves and leaves after an hour. Notifications are not emails.
