In order for Skype for Business (formerly Lync) to work you must make some entries in DNS for your domain.
If we host your DNS, these entries will be made automatically. We provide DNS hosting for our customers at no cost. If you would like to switch your DNS to us, please open a ticket with technical support.
Contact your DNS provider with the following information. Many DNS providers have a control panel that allows you to create these entries yourself. Searching their "help" for "SRV" will usually return instructions for creating this type of record:
- Create an SRV (Service Location) record for:
- service: _sip
- protocol: _tls
- port: 5061
- points to/host: lyncsip.mgcld.com
- You can test the entry by opening a command prompt on a Windows PC and typing
nslookup -type=srv _sip._tls.yourdomain.com
The output should look like this: - Next create an SRV (Service Location) record for:
- service: _sipfederationtls
- protocol: _tcp
- port: 5061
- points to/host: lyncsip.mgcld.com
- Next create a CNAME for:
- Name: LyncDiscover
- points to/host: pool.mgcld.com
If you have any questions please first contact your DNS provider (they are all a little different in their process and support of SRV records). If they need additional information feel free to CC our technical support and we will assist with communications.
