To add an Exchange E-mail account to the desktop version of Microsoft Outlook, follow these steps:
- Click File
- Click Add Account
- Wait a moment for the Email address box to appear.
- If your email address does not appear or is different than the account you want to add, enter it in the email address box.
- Click Connect
NOTE: Outlook will go through a standard process called Auto Discover. This can take several minutes. - On the Advanced setup screen, select Exchange
NOTE: If the Advanced setup screen does not appear automatically as above, cancel and start over. Then in step 3, click Advanced options: - Outlook will begin a second Auto Discover process - this too can take several minutes
- IMPORTANT! You will be prompted for a password
Notice in the image above, the Connecting to address and the username (just below it) are not the same. The username must match the Connecting to address. The Connecting to address should be the email address you are setting up. If not, cancel the process and start again.
To change the username:- Click More choices
- Click Use a different account
- Enter the correct username (again, it must match the Connecting to address)
- Enter the password for your account
DO NOT check the Remember my credentials box at this time. You may do so after your mailbox is finished being setup. - Click OK
- Click More choices
- This process can take several minutes.
You may be prompted for your username and password multiple times. If you are, be sure to enter the username and password correctly. During this process, DO NOT check the Remember my credentials box. Once the account is setup in Outlook you may use the "Remember" checkbox to automatically sign you in. - If needed, adjust the amount of mail that you want Outlook to download to your PC. NOTE: Use Cached Exchange Mode is required.
- Click Next
- Outlook will show the result
- Click Done
- Restart Outlook
